India and EU Hold Successful Seventh Cyber Dialogue in Brussels

In a bid to enhance their strategic partnership and bolster cybersecurity cooperation, the Seventh India-EU Cyber Dialogue took place on October 5, 2023, in Brussels. Led by Ms. Muanpuii Saiawi, Joint Secretary of the Cyber Diplomacy Division at India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and Ambassador (Ms.) Joanneke Balfoort, Director of Security and Defence at the European External Action Service, the dialogue proved to be a crucial platform for discussions on cyberspace-related matters.

The significance of this dialogue stems from the shared recognition by both sides of its role in addressing diverse issues related to the ever-evolving realm of cyberspace. Among the key topics discussed were cyber policies, strategies, and areas of mutual interest. The participants also explored avenues for cyber cooperation within various multilateral and regional forums, such as the United Nations, OSCE, ARF, and G20.

Capacity building in cyberspace and the fight against the criminal use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) were additional areas of focus. As the digital landscape continues to expand, the importance of building capacity in cybersecurity cannot be overstated. By fostering collaboration in this domain, India and the EU aim to strengthen their collective resilience against emerging cyber threats.
